We are on a long journey. Step by Step. That's the way we've got to approach it. This week has been hard and overwhelming. Our little Lucy Valentine was sent to the hospital for 3 nights due to RSV that was aggravated by her asthma. We were so thankful to be in such wonderful hands. We knew she was safe, and I never had to leave her side. But, the hospital is an exhausting place, both physically and emotionally. Thankfully Kenny immediately took off work, and spent time with Maizie, while we were on lockdown at the hospital.
No really, you had to wear gloves, a coat and mask to come into the room. Lucy was so brave. It was all quite traumatizing, but to see her now, you would never know that last week she was so sick. This is my younger sister modeling the outfit so beautifully!
I'm so thankful to Jesus for modern medicine! Our energetic, spirited, and feisty little Lu-Lu is back!Thank you to all of our amazing family and friends for your prayers, encouragement, and love. A special thanks to our family for helping however they could, by visiting and feeding us, and taking care of Maizie. We love you. Thank you to Kati D. for stopping by with treats, magazines, and a special balloon for Lucy. We're still playing with it! :) You look good in a yellow gown!
While we were in the hospital, we were supposed to have our first homestudy appointment, but obviously had to cancel. We received our Adoption Planner and Dossier guidelines. HOLY COW! I started going through everything, and was starting to freak out. So much needs to be done, with such complete organization and so quickly. Did I mention we are moving on Saturday? Too much at once. Well, my sweet husband reminded me that I have to compartmentalize and prioritize. Take things step by step.
#1: Take care of our kiddos and make sure they are healthy. #2 MOVE!
#3 Reschedule homestudy
#4 Start adoptive parent education
#5 Tackle dossier
#6 Send out support letters
#7 Keep taking things step by step
If you look at everything at once and think you are going to accomplish it all by yourself and quickly, you are going to FREAK OUT! But, if you surrender daily to God, and do the best you can, then things are going to keep moving, and you are going to have the endurance to finish the race!
"Your LOVE, O Lord, reaches to the Heavens, Your faithfulness to the skies." Psalm 36:5
You can do this Catherine! Or rather, God WILL give you the endurance and grace you need to get all of it done. So thankful your little one is home and well.
