So far, our fundraisers have all been events, so it has been fun. It feels kind of strange to be asking so specifically for financial help, but we obviously can't do this alone. So, recently we sent out support letters asking for prayer and donations to our adoption fund. Now we just have to sit back and wait for God to open people's hearts to give to our cause. It's truly a great faith grower, to just have to sit back and trust. It was so exciting to have the money to be able to pay both agencies, and get to move forward! This week our adoption fund has been back to $0. Just this morning we were given $500! We are so blessed! Our goal is to raise $10,000 by February, and that $500 just put us that much closer to our goal! Below you can read our support letter. One day it's going to be so wonderful to share this blog with our child. They'll be able to see all of the love, commitment and dedication it took from hundreds of people to get them home!
Our Support Letter: (It's like a mini-blog)
Because of Love
Dear family and friends,
Joy!
You might have already heard our joyous news….We are adopting a baby boy or girl from the beautiful country of Ethiopia! Our child will be from 6 months-2 years old. The reasons for us to adopt from Ethiopia are overwhelming.
-4.8 million orphans in Ethiopia
-1 in 4 women dies in pregnancy or childbirth
-1 in 6 children dies before their fifth birthday
-Ethiopia’s doctor to child ratio is 1 to 24,000
Our Journey
After the earthquake in Haiti, both Kenny and I had a sudden wake up call. Once our eyes were opened, there was no turning back.
James 1:27 “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress…”
Through much prayer, tears, conversations and research we decided to adopt internationally. Our agency is called, “All God’s Children International,” (AGCI). We are so excited to be partnering with them on this journey. They helped guide us towards the needs in Ethiopia, and now we have fallen in love with the people and culture. We are dreaming of the day when we will all be united(12-18 months). We believe that this child was planned before time to be ours, just as God picked Maizie and Lucy for us. We are humbled and blessed to be on this adoption journey. We hope you will celebrate with us.
How you can help!
The cost of adoption is quite expensive. There are agency fees, international fees, translation fees, traveling fees, etc. It all adds up to about $32,000. God has already provided $11,000 through gifts, fundraising, Zumba class, garage sales, and one amazing concert!
We are almost halfway there, but we need your help! You will literally be helping us bring our child home. There are many ways that you can help. You can pray for us. You can give a one time donation, or commit to a monthly donation for 12 months. Please join us on our journey!

Hi Catherine,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment on my blog. I agree that it is so fun to connect with people who are in the same stage of the adoption process as we are. I hope we are both on the list soon.
