Open the Eyes of My Heart

Our adoption journey has been long, but it has been incredible. We have been forever changed. As each week passes, I feel as though our eyes are opened a little bit more to the orphan crisis in the world, and our calling to help rescue children. Much of our life has been on hold, as we wait for the referral of our child. We've recently been told that it will be about 8-10 more months until referral, so we are going to step out in faith and make some big plans based on what God is calling us to do while we wait =) If we do end up receiving a referral before the trip, then we will cancel our trip for now, but we're just surrendering to the Lord's perfect timing, and trusting in His perfect plan. Whether we get to go now, or later, we know that this is where God is calling us.

Kenny and I had the blessing of meeting Carol Hart this year at Summit, the Christian Alliance for Orphans in Southern California. She is the co-founder of Zoe, a non-profit that rescues children. She spoke at a session on child trafficking. The statistics she shared, left us stunned and raw. We just knew that we were called to do something about it.

There are 27 million people being trafficked, and 50% of them are children!

The Zoe Children's Home is in Thailand, and Kenny and I are going to have the honor of visiting this December. We will be there to serve the Thai people, minister to the children and learn more about what Zoe is doing and how we can continue to serve them here in the US, and in the future.

This includes, but is not limited to nurture, meals, shelter, education, hygiene items, medical, dental and emergency care, clothing and shoes.
